Holidays are almost over...
Oh my goodness, I have gained back too much. I am getting back on this healthy bandwagon again starting tomorrow. Smaller portions and next week I will be exercising three times for at least 30 mins! German is off for another week and the weather has been nice, so I have no excuses (except that I am staying up too late and the girls wake up too early). AND NO MORE ICE CREAM!!! Heaven help me!

I ate way too much...
I've had no self control this week...not good. I think I am now officially addicted to Ben & Jerry's ice cream. I walk past them and something triggers in my brain and I just HAVE to buy a pint. They must put something in it...again not good. I guess it is important to be aware, but now I just need to stop. I've had treats all week and not small servings either! I need some encouragement and advice before I gain everything back.
Although on a good note, now that I am eating more sugars/starches my milk supply is in hyper-production mode and the baby is back to sleeping better at night.

The last six weeks...
...I've been trying to cut sugar and bread out of my diet and let me tell you that doing this while nursing has been VERY difficult, yet very effective. Last year when I cheated just a little I paid for it on the scale the next day (I wasn't nursing anymore). But this time I was still able to enjoy ice cream and other treats once or twice a week without too much effect. Although last weekend for the girls birthday I gained almost three pounds back, thanks to Kalua pork and the girls birthday cake.
I was a little worried about how it would affect my milk supply and although I did have to nurse Sage a little more often, I don't think my almost 18 pound baby has been lacking nutrients. Sorry I wasn't blogging...I just needed to stay busy and keep my mind off of all the food I was craving and I thought writing about it would just make it harder.
Obviously from the pic, I still have more to lose (I think I will always have too much junk in the trunk), but I am going to wait until next year to try and get that off. I am just happy that I can wear most of my old clothes again. And at least now I can "enjoy the holidays" a little more--hopefully I don't gain it all back. Oh well, bring on the pumpkin pie!!!

I finished the 5K...
I did run the whole time and finished under my goal time. But I felt kinda dumb because there were six girls from my ward who ran and they all finished before me. I know it shouldn't matter, it's so junior high, but it made me feel like the slow fat girl. They were all cheering me on at the finish and they really are such sweet girls, but I felt a bit embarrassed. Oh well, someday I will be faster! Right?

I made chocolate chip cookies...
Not a good idea, I did give some away, but ate way too many myself. And my friend brought me some yummy pb chocolate bars--DELISH! Ok, so tomorrow I'll do better. I did run for 40 minutes this morning, which was great, but it attributed to my tired and crankiness throughout the day. Tired and cranky leads to eating for comfort. I am going to bed early tonight, so tomorrow should be better.

New goal...
I've been getting out to run 2-3 times per week for 20-40 minutes and it feels great! Next Saturday is the 5K and I am really looking forward to it. But I haven't really lost weight because I haven't changed the way I eat. Not much of a surprise, I think nursing is partly to blame because I seriously wake up famished! My new goal is to write down what I eat, I snack all day and sometimes I eat healthy snacks and other times ummm, let's just say it's not good for me at all! When the girls have been especially difficult I really feel like I NEEEED chocolate or ice cream, but my goal is to grab something else instead. Like maybe celery dipped in peanut butter. Still not that great for me, but better than ice cream! Here it goes...

Feeling good!
Saturday German had a busy day, so I couldn't get out to run. I did do a yoga video and some sit-ups. Yesterday I did a 50 min Taebo video and my butt is killing me! This morning I walked about 2 miles. I tried to run a little bit, but I made the mistake of thinking I'd be fine with only one sports bra--NOT SO! Now I need to go running Thursday and Saturday and I must wear two sports bras...wish me luck! I've tried to set a goal of only one sugary dessert a week, but I'm not doing so great.

I heart running!
I ran on Monday for 20 mins and walked 15. I almost didn't go this morning because Sage was still sleeping at 6am (she slept from 8pm-7:30am last night--wahoo!). I decided to wake her to see if she would eat and luckily she did and went right back to sleep. So, I went running for 21 mins and walked 17 mins, I mapped my route and realized I went 2.5 miles. It felt great to be outside and alone! I have been emotional lately dealing with all the changes and adjustments, so I allowed myself to cry a bit while running. I probably looked like a crazy woman, but oh well. I've decided I need to schedule a good cry whenever I'm getting stressed. It's refreshing! Well, I am planning to go again on Saturday...wish me luck!

Week in review
As you can tell from our family blog...I'm busy and I miss having German around to help. Luckily my mom is in town, so I was able to exercise twice this week. I am feeling better and I just have to keep it up. The only time I have is at 6am before German leaves for school, which means I have to nurse Sage at 5:30am. I am starting to embrace mornings and I notice when I exercise early in the day it makes me want to eat better throughout the day.
Wed: Ran 10 min/walked 20
Sat: Ran 15 min and walked 15
Water: 60+ oz
My goal this week is to get out 3 times for 30 minutes and start eating less sugary treats...soon I need to start posting what I eat. But I'm not quite ready for that yet. :o|
Thanks for all of the encouragement!

Finally...
I just got back from a 20 minute run/walk. I only ran for five minutes and tried to briskly walk the rest. I thought I was going to die and got a side cramp...arrgh! I haven't gone running since the 10K I did in Moab last December and I ran the whole 75 minutes, no problem. It is so frustrating to feel like I am starting all over from scratch, but oh well. And even with two sports bras on, my boobs hurt. I know I'm whining, but I just hate how squishy and big I am right now. I have no clothes that fit me, but I don't want to waste any money on new clothes. Anyway, it will get better right??? I have been doing great on my water intake. I used to keep a water bottle on my bedside table because I'd wake up in the night and feel so thirsty. Now when I wake up I don't feel that way, which is really good (but usually I have to pee like a madwoman).
This week
Exercise--20 min run/walk, 100 sit-ups, 10 pushups
Water--70+ ounces everyday
Next week my mom is coming to visit so it should be easier to get out and exercise.
Goals:
Exercise--30 min run/walk, 3 times
Water--70+ ounces
And eat less peanut butter!

Water so far so good
I've finished my 90 ounce water bottle on Sunday & Monday and so far today I am doing good...I can already notice a difference in how I feel. I still feel too tired/lazy to go exercise (and it is so hot), but I have 4 1/2 more days left in the week. Back to my screaming baby!

New week...
So, here is a pic of myself taken by my husband without me knowing last week. Isn't Lucy so cute?!?! I've been deleting almost every picture of myself lately because I can't stand it. I am only posting this here because I know no one really visits this site anymore. Can you believe I went out in public dressed like that??? Good thing Stacey and Clinton from What Not To Wear didn't see me. No make up, wet hair, frumpy old prego shirt and brown flip flops w/ black workout capris. YIKES!!! And what is up with my horrible posture and saggy boobs? Needless to say, I am NOT a fan of my post-prego body. Onto my goals...I did pretty good drinking water on Wed and Thurs, but Fri/Sat were super busy (and exhausting--I took all three girls to the doctor), so I did not drink much water. Today I've done a little better, but tomorrow is a new week! My goals for this week are to drink at least 60 oz a day AND go walking two days this week for 30 minutes. Thankfully, Sage has started sleeping 6-8 hours a night, so I should have the energy to get my butt moving! I'll try and check in here midweek...

Goal this week
I do not drink nearly enough water! I am going to start exercising again on September 1st, but before that I HAVE to start drinking more water. I think I am now barely drinking 30 oz or so...not good. I've got my trusty 90 oz. water bottle and my goal until Sept. 1st is to get back into the habit. Wish me luck!

I need to run!
So, there are not very many events here in Bryan, which sucks, but I did find a 5K to do on October 3rd. It is really close by and will at least get me going and motivated. I will probably have to find longer races in Houston to do, but I don't think I will be doing any of those soon. I don't want to run long distances while I am still nursing (ouchy).
I hope to be posting more often because I have ALOT of work to do again on this body of mine...and I have fallen in love with homemade banana pudding! (not good)

Not so healthy me...but I will be!
So, I am def NOT a healthy pregnant lady. I've gained almost 30 pounds and have eaten so much crap, especially this past week (i.e. donuts, cake, cookies, etc.). I have gone walking a little more often, but because I still have some nauseous evenings I don't go too much. I wanted to take a sec to write some goals that I have for myself after this baby is born.
September 1, 2009--start my new running schedule (2-3 times a week)
December 2009--run a 10K (4 times a week)
April 2010--run half marathon (back to pre-prego body, hopefully)
October 2010--run full marathon (then MAINTAIN)
Now the search is on to find which runs to do. I am soooo excited to get started and not feel so BLAH all the time!

Not quite yet...
So, last week I was celebrating a little prematurely. I did have a good day, but Tuesday was awful. The rest of the week wasn't all that great either, so no gym. Although, yesterday and today have been pretty good so far. I am not going to get my hopes up yet. I am eating horribly--lots of bacon and cream cheese. And I eat about 2-3 apples day, which I guess is good. They are the only thing that sounds good when I am feeling yuck. What's weird is that I have to peel them because the skin grosses me out. This has been a weird pregnancy. I threw up WAY more often with the girls, but I think I have been more nauseous this pregnancy. And I have had more headaches with this one, too. We'll find out next month what sex it is, maybe I get more sick with boys. A boy, of course would be fun, but I'd love another girl. Someday this blog will be more interesting, I promise. I can't wait to get moving again.

Thank goodness for second trimesters!
I don't know if anyone even checks this, but it is time for an update. Yesterday and today (so far) I have been feeling pretty good. I've actually been cleaning our very messy home. I have done pretty close to nothing around here for the past 5-6 weeks, except maybe act grumpy and nourish our growing fetus. German has been great at maintaining and taking care of necessities, but we need some massive organization. Too bad I don't have Kiersta around to help me out, she's amazing at that kind of thing. I still miss her. *sniff sniff*
Anyway, I am hoping to start going back to the gym this week. We went on a little walk Friday and it is amazing how freakin' exhausted and out of breath I was after only a few minutes. I have eaten horribly and done no exercise since the 10K on December 6th. Click here to read race info & my time. Oh well, I'll have to start with some walking or bicycle maybe. I have gained four pounds and just barely had to start wearing lovely stretchy pants for the belly bulge. My goal is to make it to the gym at least once this week. Wish me luck.
