I need to write down my food intake...
because I am going downhill fast. Toooo much sugar, I made PB cookies on Wednesday and then a pecan pie AND blueberry pie yesterday. I have no self control. I am going to try to write what I eat and my exercise. If I don't write anything that means I've done well, but when I've had a bad sugary day then I have to write it down here.

Half marathon...almost
So apparently the course was mapped incorrectly and was only 12.92 miles long (low budget run I guess)...and my right hip and knee started killing me around mile 8, so I had to walk alot and that was frustrating. I'd walk for 3-5 minutes and then start to run and after a minute or two I just couldn't bear the pain. So I'd walk some more. I should've gone to the chiropractic, something I do while running throws off my right shoulder and everything else just gets out of whack. It's been bothering me for a year (since my 10 mile run). I went to the chiro on Tuesday after the run and I haven't been running at all since then and my shoulder feels better than ever before in only a week. The chiro recommended I take a break for a while and run no more than 3 miles. I am going to just strengthen it and get it to stay normal. Maybe I'll try another run sometime in the future, but no more than a 10K.
Official time for 12.92 miles: 2:31:12.

10 mile run
Last October I ran a 10 mile race here in Bryan. It was awesome, but not quite the 13.1 miles I had set a goal to complete.
Yesterday I ran 10 miles for my training and by mile 7 I thought I was going to die. I seriously had some second thoughts about doing the half marathon next month. But when I started feeling nauseous, feverish and achy all over just hours after I got home I realized why I wasn't doing so well during my run. I am feeling a little better tonight, but I don't deal with being sick very well. I am such a whiner! Next week is my 11 mile run and I hope it goes much better. I love running! A couple of weeks ago I downloaded some new running music, but lately I've been listening to church conference talks while I run and I love it. I feel like a goof sometimes because I'll often tear up at what is being said, but there really is nothing more exhilarating then feeling the spirit. I think it will help me with my pace. I need to go to bed now, so I can feel better and stick to my running schedule. Three miles tomorrow...goodnight!

Doing pretty good with running, but not with eating!
I am back on a sugar addiction. I get so hungry when I run alot and I eat/crave way too many sugary carb food. I am really looking forward to my first half marathon on Thanksgiving day in Fort Worth and my friend Kiersta will be running with me (well, running ahead of me!) I love the weather in the mornings right now...65 degrees at 7am! It feels great.
I can't decide if I want new music or if I should try running to podcasts or books. German introduced to Radiolab podcasts and they pretty interesting and entertaining. I almost feel like I am too old for music...I get bored. Is that weird or what??? I kind of want to listen to something more thought-provoking I guess. Any suggestions?
Oh, and aren't my new shoes so cute?!?

Back on track!
I went to the track again this morning. I love running outside much better than the treadmill and I am loving this 65 degree morning weather! I really love the weather in Texas. It gets pretty hot, but I can handle it with few complaints. It's been hard to train these last couple of weeks because all the girls have had the flu. I have to get used to waking up at 6am again. This morning I did 3 miles in 30:30 and my long run this Saturday will be 5.5 miles. So excited to finally do my first half marathon on Thanksgiving day!

Ummm, scratch that...
I've been lazy. I am now going to try to do this half marathon on Thanksgiving day and depending on how busy German is with schoolwork, I may or may not be able to do the full marathon in March.
Oh and those Zoot shoes weren't made for long distances, so I returned them and they finally got the Asics kayano 17 that I originally wanted in stock. Hoorray for easy exchanges! Now I just need some cooler weather, so I can run outside.

Almost three years later...
I started running back in July 2008 and I just can't get enough! I really want to do a marathon next year. Last week Sadie and I did the Blue Bell 5K with all you can eat ice cream bars at the end. I was planning on doing the 10K, but I just wimped out because I hadn't run more than 2 miles for weeks (and decided Sadie needed me to run with her...she just had a baby 7 weeks ago, she's awesome!) So, 34:15 isn't my best, but there were hills and it was lots of fun. I am going to make a training schedule and get ready for maybe a half this fall. I love it!

New Year's Day 5K
It was really cold and German ended up staying with the girls, so I was all alone, but I had fun. My time was 31:24...not quite my goal of finishing under 30 minutes, but I'm getting closer. Now, if I could just tell my mind to NEVER want sugar again, my health would be exactly where I'd like it to be.
