Sick 5K

But I did finish around 32:15, so wasn't too awful. I may do another 5K on New Years in Dallas to see if I can get under 30 mins. Man, I really like running. Now if only I didn't really like chocolate and ice cream!

Feeling sick and fat...

I've been going running consistently for awhile now and signed up for a Turkey Trot 5K on Thanksgiving. I was hoping to be able to train well and try to do it under 30 minutes, I even did one mile in 8:43! But of course I caught some bug on Tuesday and have felt like junk all week. Oh, AND I have been eating lots of junk, too. I'm lucky I haven't been sick very often as a mother because I do not handle it well at all. I am a mess all around. I am hoping to at least go run on Monday or Tuesday of next week, but not sure if I'll finish the 5K under my goal time. Oh well...they'll be more races to do. Bleh.

oh food...

What is it about the fall and cooler weather that just makes me want to eat bread and cookies too much? I'm still running 3 times a week, but I have been awful with my eating habits again. Tonight I had a salad with dinner and realized how I hadn't eaten a salad in FOREVER! So that is why I have this blog. I am going to try to post my food again as often as possible--starting tomorrow.

I signed up for a 5k Turkey trot on Thanksgiving day and have talked my running buddies into doing it with me. Also, German's mom will be here visiting so we'll get to run it together. I'd really love to try a mini-triathlon so I can mix things up and work out different parts of my body, too. I mean will I ever be rid of my upper thigh jiggliness? I want toned legs dangit! I may join a gym, so I can lift weights and also have some freedom from the girls, too.

Any other ideas for keeping the weight off over the holidays? Because I am so looking forward to Thanksgiving food!

Less than two weeks!

I've been doing well with my training, but it is making me hungrier and I am eating tooo much sugar. I ran 7 miles on Saturday and this weekend I am planning to run 9 miles--THEN the big 10 miles on Oct. 2nd. YIKES! I really hope the weather is nice. I also feel like I need to keep training and find a half marathon to do before the year ends because that really was my initial goal and I am just so close.

My goal is to make better/smarter food choices this week and NO MORE ice cream! (at least no more this week...)

Wish me luck!

So far I've been just okay...

I went running but only did 2, 3 and 2 miles. But last week I did run 2 Tues, 3 Thurs and 4 Sat. Although Sat I started feeling really lightheaded and sick halfway through and had to take a break. I was doing an out and back run, so I had to finish. It was not fun. Also, most of my favorite music was on my MP3 player and I miss all the fun songs.

I am doing very poorly with desserts only on the weekend. I have no willpower sometimes and it has got to stop. I have also been slacking on my water intake. I am still limiting my starch intake and using stevia whenever I need sweetener.

My goals this week:
Run 3 Mon, 3 Thurs, 4.5-5 Sat

Absolutely no desserts until next Saturday!!! No food at all after 7pm!!! (late night snacks have started sneaking back into my life)

Get some new music for my ipod.

P.S. Is there anyone out there still reading this??? 'Cause I need a good kick in the pants!

New goals to keep losing...

I signed up for the 10 mile run yesterday, so I will be forced to train. I didn't exercise the whole month of June and kept telling myself I needed to get a gym pass because it was tooo hot to run outside at the track. But that didn't happen and after almost 6 weeks I started going again 3x/week. It is pretty hot, but not too bad if I get there early enough.

Last week I made myself a training schedule and yesterday I ran almost 3.5 miles. The first mile is a killer, but then I felt great. Sadly my old MP3 player broke, but I found an AWESOME used Ipod mini for $30. Now I need more music!

My goals this week:
Run 2 miles Mon, 3 miles Wed, 4 miles Sat and do yoga on Friday.

Continue to drink lots of water with my giant bottle. I find that it really helps curb my hunger. I am also continuing to use stevia as much as possible instead of sugar.

No desserts until the weekend (Sat/Sun).

Avoid breads, pastas, rice and starchy foods as much as possible. Although, my friend gave me a recipe for homemade granola that I love and have eaten alot lately. It is sweet and starchy, but since it is good for me I am allowing myself to eat that on days I run.

I think that is it for now, wish me luck!

5K this morning

I couldn't find a real 5K race to do here, so I just ran 5K at the track and finished in 34:05 minutes. It is getting hot in the mornings, but I have loved running MWF with friends. I've lost about 4 pounds since we started two months ago and my clothes are feeling loose, so I think I've probably lost some inches as well. I need to get a gym pass, so I can keep training all summer and get myself ready for the 10 mile run in October. I hope to maintain the 11 min/mile pace and finish in under 2 hours.

Next I need to find a half marathon to do before next spring. Not sure if anyone reads this anymore, but does someone WANT TO JOIN ME??? There is one here in town in March, but I'd like to find one that will be more fun. I was looking at the rock n' roll ones, but most of them are on Sundays, which stinks!

My goal is to lose 10-15 more pounds by the end of the year because during the holidays I will probably gain five back!

My third 10K...yay!

I finished in 76:38. I was hoping to beat my Moab 10K time, but I think the hills did me in and I had to stop and walk a few times. I hate hills. I probably should train on hills though, good practice. So, I haven't found a half marathon to do yet, but I am going to make a training schedule for the 10 mile run on October 2nd. I really love running...it seriously makes me feel good about myself.

Training is going pretty well...

I started running MWF with some girls in the ward, which is really fun. We run for about 30 minutes or so and usually do 2-3 miles. Then today I was only planning on running 4 miles, but I felt really good and kept going for one more mile. Finally, I am enjoying it again! I am excited to run next Saturday...my goal is to finish in 72 minutes. I just purchased this awesome new watch because the girls broke my cheapo one and I am so excited to use it. It has tons of features that I am still figuring out and even tells me how many calories I burn each run, I already love it.
And it's also nice to have my clothes fit better.

I just signed up for a 10K...

That should motivate me. The weather has been perfect and I really need to get out and run before it gets too dang hot. I have a running schedule planned and I just signed up to run a 10K on Saturday, April 17th. Not sure how I'll do, and I contemplated doing just the 5K, but there is all you can eat Blue Bell ice cream (delicious Texas ice cream) at the finish line, so I decided I better do the 10K...Oh how I love ice cream. I then want to train for a local 10 mile run on October 2nd and the only way to train for that is to get a gym pass. I have been eating really well the last couple of weeks and have had no sugar! I sure do love Truvia. I need to do some weight training and tone my flabbiness up. And I'd like to lose another 10-15 pounds to be at my ideal weight.

My ultimate goal is to do a half marathon sometime in Nov/Dec, but I haven't found one yet. I will hopefully be back here more often to report on my progress.

It's a no go...

We have too much going on right now for me to plan any sort of running event. So maybe later this spring or in the fall when I am done nursing and can get up early in the mornings and run w/o having to nurse Sage first. I'll feel better when all my hormones are back to normal as well. Have fun K & S!

2 miles...

and it took me 25 minutes! It was cold and I was tired, but I got my butt outside.

Bad news is that I made some amazing homemade cinnamon rolls yesterday and well, there are leftovers. I did give some to our neighbors and German took two plates to school today. I won't tell you how many I have eaten already...oh well.

3 miles

Yay...today felt great! A beautiful 60 degrees! Hope the weather stays this nice.

P.S. I am more of a 12 minute mile now. Used to be 11 minute...maybe I can get there again. My goal when I started running was to average a 10 minute mile.

P.P.S. People in my neighborhood smoke pot at 9am...wierdos! It reeked.

4 miles...

I woke up at 5:45am (actually the baby woke me up), fed the baby, got dressed, made breakfast ready for the girls and was out the door at 6:30am. I loved it. Sunrise was beautiful and it was a nice 55 degrees. Now let's just hope I make it through the day without passing out. I've done much better with my water intake as well.

I need to run at least 3 miles on Saturday to have a successful week.

The squishiness is coming back with a vengeance...

Ok, the holidays are over and it's time to get serious. The new year's resolutions I made on here were way too vague and lameo. I haven't been drinking water like I should and I've been too lazy to go running before German leaves for school, but that is the only time I can go. I was looking back at the running goals I made before Sage was born and although I did do the 5K, I did not do a 10K in December. I can't do a half until I am done nursing because my boobs would explode after three hours of running, but I can do a 10K.

Soooo, I am thinking I MIGHT try running the 10K while Kiersta and Shaunna do the half in Ft. Worth on Feb. 27th. I ran two miles this morning and I LOVE how I feel when I actually get my butt outside. I am giving myself two weeks to get into a running schedule before I actually register. I also need to figure out what I am going to do about feeding Sage.

Can I do it??? I'll let you know on Feb. 1st.
